What Music Should Our Children Listen To?

Hello dear mothers...I love hearing my daughter sing. She's really fond of singing, may it be Tagalog or English songs.Whenever she hears a song from a commercial, from her papa or nursery rhymes , She would definitely imitate it. but have you ever wondered what music should our children listen to?
I read an article written by Laura Lewis Brown entitled..What music should my child listen to?here are some of the list..hope you'll enjoy and learn from them..

Start with Nursery Rhymes

When Sophia was a baby ,She easily fell asleep whenever she heard nursery rhymes.I remember her as a happy baby. The first baby songs I introduced to her were the bible nursery rhymes that I bought on Booksale. (It's a book with a CD) which I eventually got to enjoy too. ha-ha there were times n mauuna pa ako matulog s kanya because the music was soothing and calming.... I also learned to sing those songs...I still know them till now. ^^

Classical

I loved listening to Mozart and Bach songs when i was pregnant with my little Sophia. I heard kase about the Mozart effect.people said that when you listen to Classical Music while pregnant ,It can make your baby smarter ...Some of the hundreds of benefits are:

  • Improves test scores
  • Cuts learning time
  • Calms hyperactive children and adults
  • Reduces errors
  • Improves creativity and clarity
  • Heals the body faster
  • Integrates both sides of the brain for more efficient learning
  • Raises IQ scores 9 points  (wow right?) However based on the article we should avoid very long orchestral music ( baka naman malurkey ang  baby nyo pg pinakinig nyo ng Symphony#40 in full version ,haha..choz!) and listen to short pieces about four to five minutes in length instead..

Here are some of the list Sophia loves to listen and sing to..

  • Baa Baa Black sheep
  • The Itcy Bitsy Spider
  • Old McDonald had a farm
  • Mary had a Little Lamb
  • Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

She loves listening to these songs over and over again kaya siguro nakakanta niya na...^^

More Nursery Rhymes....

  • Row Row Row your boat
  • Itsy bitsy spider
  • Twinkle twinkle little star
  • Looby Loo
  • Hush Little Baby
  • Ba Ba Black Sheep
  • Head Shoulders Knees and Toes
  • Wheels on the Bus
  • Down by the Bay
  • If you are happy and you know it

We can play adult music naman as long as it's not heavy metal or  doesn't contain violent or explicit lyrics. We have to be really careful on what our children hear because we know naman that children nowadays are very smart. They're like sponges,They absorb everything.

Here are some Adult Music that we and our children can enjoy:

  • Himig ng Pag ibig by Yeng Constatino
  • Lemon tree by Fools Garden
  • Yellow Submarine by The Beatles
  • Breakaway by Kelly Clarkson
  • Firework By Katy Perry
  • Smile by Uncle Kracker
  • Good Feeling by Flo-rida
  • Lights by Ellie Goulding
  • Home by Phillip Phillip
  • Feel Again by One Republic

Tell me what you think....
